Pathwright now includes direct upload and hosting of your videos (and audio files via the Audio Block) with all standard plans.

A sample Upload Video Block: learner preview mode on the left, design mode on the right

Video is responsive and supports full-screen mode on mobile and desktop.

How to upload a new video

  1. Create a new step on your course Path and open the step.

  2. Select "Media," then "Upload Video." You've added a Block to your step!

  3. Select "Replace video" and use the Media Manager to upload and insert your video.

  4. Optionally upload a new cover image or add more Blocks. When finished, hit Publish.

The built-in video player includes...

  • Upload your own videos up to 1.5 gigabytes each

  • Upload .mp4, .mov, and .m4v

  • Toggle between full-width and centered formats.

  • Play/pause button (no autoplay currently)

  • Manual "scrubbing" or adjusting your place on the video

  • Adjust speed up to 5x faster, or slow to 0.5 or 0.1 speed

  • Adjust volume

  • Optionally allow learners to download

  • Full screen mode

  • Optionally add closed captioning or subtitles (new!)

Q. I host my videos on YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, or elsewhere. Can I still embed a video from a third-party hosting service?
A. Yes, use an Embed Video Block or Embed Anything Block to embed videos from another host.

Q. Is there a storage limit? Can I bulk-upload videos to Pathwright?
A. There is no overall storage limit, and you can upload 5-15 files at a time, depending on type. Please let us know if you would like help with a large project.

Q. Can I add closed captions or subtitles to my video?

A. Yes, you can upload a file with your captions or subtitles. Learn more about our subtitle options here.

Q. Can you host a live video stream or webinar?
A. We do not directly host your live video stream or webinar, but you can list a live video stream hosted by Zoom, Skype, YouTube Live, etc. and you can upload or embed your recorded session.

Q. Can I allow my learners to upload videos?
A. Yes, learners can submit all files, including video files, via the Submit Block or post them to discussions.

Q. Why doesn't my video look the way I expect it to?
A. Here are some troubleshooting tips:

  • Videos have a maximum width defined by their inherent resolution. Gray borders will appear on the edges if the video cannot fill its container's width.

  • We limit video height (600px) to avoid users having to scroll too far, especially on mobile devices. If the video is tall and narrow (such as a video taken on a mobile phone in portrait mode), this may also prevent the video from filling its max width on medium and large screens.

  • In the Media Manager, videos will often look zoomed in (ie, some parts may be hidden) in order to fit within the square preview. Don't worry, this will not affect how the video renders in the step.
